Former Premier of Pakistan, Imran Khan conviction in gifts case suspended by Pakistan Court

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had been in prison since 5 August. The premier was released from conviction by a two-judge bench on 23 August in Islamabad High Court.

The gift controversy along with other unlawful acts had previously been charged against the former premier which led to a five year suspension from taking part in Pakistani election.
 
On Wednesday, the bench suspended this conviction on gift receiving case.
 
Imran Khan was previously blamed for selling of a national gift presented by Saudi Arabia to Pakistan which invoked strong chastisement from the public thriving in harsh economic conditions
.
A watch worth millions of dollars was sold off by the previous prime minister at a much reduced cost during his tenure.
 
Later when the news was revealed, Imran Khan was held accountable along with other charges following the vote of no-confidence in the parliament.
 
Many of his immediate followers were also charged with power abuse during their tenure and arrested before Imran Khan.
 
The public still has to see the cricketer-turned-politician being released from Jail in northwestern Attock city.
 
Imran Khan was arrested for corruption charges placed by the current government and sentenced to three years in jail. Similar charges were placed against the previous government officials.
 
The country had plunged into a dangerous default situation after Premier Imran Khan left office.
 
The coalition government revealed secret documents that supported their claim of corruption done by Imran Khan government during his tenure from 2018 to 2022.
 
According to some resources, the Pakistani government will soon arrest 100 more of Imran Khan followers through military court owing to their direct involvement in corruption cases.
 
The country silently await further development of political tussling in Pakistan.
